Swakopmund, Namibia

Founded in 1892 as the main harbor for German South Africa, this town is now best known for its Germanic architecture. Small and walkable, it is made for wandering at random. It is sold as a beach resort but now in winter, it seems deserted.
Most of the older buildings seem to be getting facelifts perhaps in anticipation of the summer season or to lure in foreign tourists who have the gall to come off season.
