Closing the Loop

This summer was planned as a journey through Mesopotamia, or more precisely, a route tracing the beginnings of civilization through lands of the Fertile Crescent. The dream of a lifetime, it has been fantastic! Although not a part of this trip, I have been to other parts of the Fertile Crescent before – upper and lower Egypt as well as Iran. Present day Lebanon and Syria lie decidedly within this area and this journey could hardly be complete without traveling through these countries.

The Syrian visa has remained elusive so that may have to be visited another time but Lebanon is possible, albeit with some caution. I am off in a couple of days to explore what I can.
