Toledo, Spain

There are tales short and tall
That many may still recall
Of the Taifa of Toledo
That once was, ‘tis now no more
When the Caliphate did fall
“Twas a move north for all
To the kingdom of Toledo
Merchants, commoners and knights did go
A town of stone they did build
With high walls amid vale and field
Knights in armour on their steeds
Clattered up these narrow streets
Tales of glory, tales of woe
Was the story of Toledo
Of kings and queens and knights of old
Their tales have all been told
A tourist mecca now it may be
Where hordes come to feel and see
The medieval days of yore
That once was, ‘tis now no more
