“Come back in summer” said the man at the bus station in Iraklion. “Not many buses now”.
The info on accommodation was even worse. Apparently almost all the south and large parts of the east closes its shutters and hibernates until summer makes its appearance. I had planned to see a whole lot of other places in Crete including pottering around in Phaestos, Malia and Zakros but given the dismal prospects of transport and accommodation, after trying for a couple of days, I bailed. It is goodbye Crete.
And hello Athens for the few days I have left.
